1. Agreement to Terms
By engaging General Junk for junk removal services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These terms apply to all services provided by General Junk, operating in Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region, New Zealand.
2. Services
General Junk provides junk removal, rubbish removal, house cleanouts, property clean-ups, light demolition, renovation cleanups, whiteware removal, and related services. Our services include:
- Collection and removal of unwanted items from your property.
- Responsible disposal, recycling, and donation of items where possible.
- Light demolition of structures such as fences, sheds, and playhouses.
3. Quotes and Pricing
- Quotes are provided based on the information you supply regarding the items to be removed.
- Final pricing may vary if the actual volume or nature of items differs from the initial description.
- All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable.
- We reserve the right to adjust pricing if additional items or services are requested on-site.
4. Payment
- Payment is due upon completion of the service unless otherwise agreed in advance.
- We accept cash payment.
- For larger commercial jobs, payment terms may be arranged in advance.
5. Bookings and Cancellations
- Bookings can be made by phone (027 313 8782) or through our website contact form.
- We will confirm your booking with a date and approximate arrival time.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us as soon as possible, ideally at least 24 hours before the scheduled service.
- We reserve the right to reschedule services due to weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control.
6. Access and Safety
- You must provide safe and reasonable access to the items to be removed.
- Please inform us of any hazards, restricted access areas, or special requirements before our arrival.
- We reserve the right to decline removal of items that pose a safety risk to our team.
- Items must not include hazardous materials such as asbestos, chemicals, explosives, medical waste, or any materials prohibited by New Zealand law.
7. Ownership of Items
By engaging our services, you confirm that you are the owner of the items to be removed, or that you have the authority to dispose of them. Once items are removed from your property, they become the property of General Junk for disposal, recycling, or donation at our discretion.
8. Liability
- We take reasonable care when removing items from your property. However, we are not liable for damage to items designated for removal.
- We will take care to avoid damage to your property during the removal process. Any concerns about potential damage should be communicated before the service begins.
- Our liability for any damage to your property is limited to the cost of reasonable repair.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from our services.
9. Environmental Responsibility
We are committed to environmentally responsible disposal. We recycle and donate items wherever possible and use licensed disposal facilities in Christchurch. However, we cannot guarantee that all items will be recycled or donated, as this depends on the condition and type of items.
10. Light Demolition
For light demolition services, you are responsible for obtaining any necessary building consents or permits from the Christchurch City Council or relevant authority before work commences. General Junk is not responsible for obtaining permits or for any consequences of demolition work carried out without proper consent.
11. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing our services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, pandemics, or government restrictions.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
